Adventures across the USA

I have set out on a 3-week photo expedition across the US. I have never been to the Southeast, although I have always loved Southern cooking. This trip is being taken in a 1974 Airstream Argosy (a painted lady). I'm hoping to see swamps, plantations, and other photo worthy sites. My trusty great dane and photo assistant Kat are along for the ride.

Nominate Me!

The RFT is hosting the 2nd annual Mastermind Awards. If you like my work please nominate me for this award. $1,000 could buy me a new lens or help fund a trip to Ecuador.

Do you know a local artist (or two) whose work is worthy of recognition and who could use a little cash to fund his or her projects? Then nominate that person for Riverfront Times' MasterMind Awards.

For the second year in a row, we are rewarding four stand-out individuals for their work in the categories of visual arts, performing arts, film/video/media and literary arts. Each winner will be presented with a $1,000 check at RFT's annual Artopia gala on Thursday, August 27.

Portrait Assignment

I had my first try at portrait photography using lights. It was comical to say the very least. I felt like I was doing a bad senior pictures shoot. View pictures HERE

St. Charles Landscapes

I had a chance to go to St. Charles yesterday and enjoy the beautiful weather. I had never walked all the way down to the show before. It was nice to be on Main Street on a weekday when there were not a lot of people to share the sidewalks with.

Back from New York, gearing up for Vancouver

I am back from New York, and I brought germs home with me. I remember thinking while on the subway that there was nowhere for those germs to go. I love the city...the lights, the huge buildings, all the advertising, all of it! I already have plans to go back. We made it out to Brooklyn, which seemed like a whole nother world. I actually thought I was going to get sunrise shots of the city from Brooklyn, but it was 15 degrees the morning I made it up before dawn. Every New Yorker that we asked for help was so friendly. Officer Clark in Times Square told us about the best sushi restaurant and how to get cheap front row seats into "The Heights". I toured NYU and viewed a student show on display. And I learned some things about how to display my prints. The best part about the trip was that I sold a piece on opening night! I'm currently matting and framing for the Vancouver show in March.

NYC Update

We are packing and getting ready for the NYC show.  I have been doing a ton of research on where to go and what to see.  I can't wait to shoot the city.  A friend set up reservations at Aqua Girl on Friday night.  I can't wait to try this restaurant!

I've been busy matting and framing this week, getting ready to send the images to the gallery.   Tomorrow, it's off to UPS.
